Today our own iPhone application is finally ready! It’s made for all of you who would like to improve your lighting skills and take even better looking photos. We used almost a year to create it and now it’s better than five years of photography school in Finland.
This is one of the lighting patterns explained in the tutorial. It’s lighted with two medium sized soft boxes from above and below Jonna.
Go check out more about our app from www.lightstudioapp.com.

Hey! Today I downloaded your App., and I like it. Good Balance of Information and Pictures. But I have one Problem with the setup Module. I find it impossible to Move the lights and change only one Parameter. Everything Time I touch the lights everything changes…. Would it be an option to use an scrollwheel (like so many other apps) to change the Parameters??? Please it would help a lot!
Hi Sean. Thanks for your feedback! Our programmer is this month on a heroic train journey to China through Siberia, but right after he comes back we start to make our version 2.0. Your suggestion shouldn’t be any big problem to include into it, I think. To help you in the meantime, I myself find it easy to think that moving my finger up moves light up and moving it to left moves the light left. That way I can only look at the light, not my finger. Hope that will help.
Thanks for the fast response! My main problem espacially is to regulate the intensity by pinching.. Maybe I have to left hands
but sadly I’ m not able to get consistent results for this. With a scrollwheel it would be easier for every parameter I think. hopefully version 2.0 is a free upgrade ?
Oh, the pinching. We’ll work on that as soon as our programmer returns. The scrollwheel is a great idea. I would also like to see that in version 2.0. And of course the upgrade will be free!
Yes the problem is mainly about the light intensity.. Every time I touch the display to move the light up or down and play with it, immediately the Power counter freaks out. After placing the light source at the right spot it is not possible to alter the intensity of the light by pinching… So at first I thought about a scroll wheel. But there would be another option: Simply have three operating areas at the top right corner of the picture. One for setting the light angle, one for the height and one for the power. You could realize it with simple +/- buttons to adjust if the scroll wheel is not implementable…
Whether or not, because of your responsiveness and your consideration of my ideas I would like to buy you a beer… But unfortunately Finland is to far from Switzerland…. So I decided to buy two of you additional light sets as an in-app Purchase
Hmm, the power counter freaking is strange and haven’t happened before. We look at it as soon as possible. You can try double tap a light to shut it down and then put it on again. Or you can try to restart the program. In the new firmware of iphone programs dosn’t shut down when you exit them, so to do this, press twice the menu button on iphone (the only button), find the program you want to restart, press it for a long time and press the minus over it. Then just start the app again from your iphone desktop.
Thanks you for your help to get our app better! If you come to Finland I’ll buy you a beer.
Hi! Sadly I already did all the things you mentionend, but to no avail. Every time I move the lights the power counter acts weird! On both of my Phones (3G and iphone4)
In this way the setup module is only half the game. But its a pleasure to help (if I can).
Concerning your invitation for a Beer: I always wanted to visit your country (sweden and norway, too)…..
Hmm… somehow my last post got deleted. To sum it up again: Sadly I did all the things you mentioned, but to no avail. Restarting the app, does not cure the problem. I installed the app even on my old iphone 3G and there the problem with the light freaking persists. So sadly the great setup module in the app does not work fully..
But hopefully with the next update you can fix it…. Perhaps you really can use on of my ideas?
Concerning the beer…. Finland is one of the countries I really would like to vist (Sweden and Norway too)….
Yep, we will locate and fix the problem on the next update. Right after our programmer returns home from his journey. I contacted him and he said that you should just change the light intensity first before changing the place of the light. Of course this is not the way it should work, so he’ll fix it.
Thanks again!
Is this app available only on iPhone? I would be interested on PC-version.
Yep, it’s only for iPhone. We are planning an Android version some time in the far future, but a PC version haven’t even been talked about.
How about a version for Symbian^3? With Qt shouldn’t be that big of a problem.
We are planning it, but it won’t be up this year at least.
Wow, very sensual portrait ! Congrats and my vote for you on coolphotoblog from France !
